I have lived in Scotland all my life and have the colours ,rugged landscape ever since I can remember!
I started weaving in primary school and have been weaving tapestries since the early 1970’s. My work has been exhibited in selected exhibitions around the UK and at the International Fungi and Fibre Symposia in Scandinavia; USA and Australia. I have also directed two community weaving projects.
My inspiration is land and sea and the natural world in general. In my weaving I use natural fibres i.e.wool ,cotton, silk, linen and the emerging fibres like soya and bamboo fibres which I hand spin and dye. I also play with warp and weft on my Louet Combo loom.
You can view my work in the gallery, and if you would like to discuss a design/commission use the contact link.
I specialise in using mushroom dyes found in Scotland and am a founder member of the Scottish Fungi Group “The Fungus Bunch”.
I have designed the “Trishary” Travel loom which is ideal for creating miniature weavings. This is a unique loom that travels with you anywhere.
I am a member of the British Tapestry Group. I also co-organise the Scottish Annual Gathering of Weavers, Spinners, Dyers & Felters called the Battleby Gathering" |
